Professional Development Opportunities
We have several exciting professional development opportunities and social events planned for early career researchers (ECRs) during the 2023 ISER meeting in the Gold Coast. All ERCs are strongly encouraged to apply for a travel award scholarship. This prestigious award helps cover the financial costs of traveling to the Gold Coast and is also a great networking opportunity. The deadline for the ECR travel fellowship is October 13th, 2022. Follow this link for more information on the travel award application process.
Additionally, all ECRs are eligible to compete in the 2023 best poster competition. The 1st place winner will not only win cash prizes but will have the opportunity to give a brief 3-minute, 1 slide talk on their work before one of the Prize Ceremony and Lecture. More information on the poster competition can be found here.
Lastly, there is the opportunity to exchange and discuss a wide range of topics with ISER’s elite scientists at our “Expert Corner”. If you have suggestions for topics of discussion or would like to serve as an expert please email Daisy Shu at daisy_shu@meei.harvard.edu
Social Events
Eye2Eye Meet and Greet – As always, all ECRs will have an opportunity to meet each other at the start of the meeting during the welcome reception on Sunday, February 19th. Get to know your fellow Early Career Researchers!
WISER Dinner (Woman of ISER) – All Early Career Researchers, male and female, are encouraged to attend as it represents an opportunity to speak one-on-one with senior scientists who will also attend this function. Attendees will be given ample opportunity and are encouraged to seek advice on all areas in relation to career advancement. More information will follow.
Early Career Researcher Happy Hour – This event will not be officially sponsored by ISER but will be a great opportunity to meet and connect with fellow ISER ECRs as well as explore the Gold Coast. More information will follow.
Remember to use #ISER2023 in all of your social media outlets when documenting your time in the Gold Coast.
