Dear colleagues and friends,
It is with great pleasure to welcome you to the XXVth biennial meeting of the International Society of Eye Research (ISER) to be held on the beautiful shores of the Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia.
As the local organizer and the Scientific program chair, I welcome you to join the international eye and vision researchers from across the globe, for what plans to be an engaging scientific program covering many different sections, from basic research of the different ocular tissues, through to translation into ophthalmic therapeutics. We have been overwhelmed by the response of our members in proposing insightful and diverse scientific sessions, and together with our esteemed Section organizers, we have invited leading experts to organize these sessions to put a program together than will deliver what is shaping up to be one of the most memorable ISER meetings to date.
As with all ISER meetings, we especially look forward to welcoming our young investigators, especially any new eye researchers, to present their work not only to their peers, but to world class leaders in their respective fields. There will be many networking opportunities and activities on offer, along with a large number of travel awards to support our young investigators. I can think of no better introduction to the global eye research community than in this intimate and relaxed setting that we have planned.
The meeting will take you on a journey of discovery that is bound to deliver and provide more than showcasing excellence in national and international eye research. The venue, the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre, is perfectly positioned to offer an affordable working/family holiday getaway like no other, in a relaxed atmosphere with surf, sand, shopping and entertainment, all at your doorstep, with some of the finest and freshest tropical produce in Australia. The exciting nightlife of nearby Surfers Paradise, the beautiful hinterland on our doorstep, and the northern lush tropical rainforests together with the wonders of the Great Barrier Reef, all await you.
There’s never been a better time to visit the Gold Coast – Australia’s postcard-perfect coastal playground that remains the country’s premier tourist destination.
We encourage you to explore and discover all the excitement that a conference in Queensland has to offer. The phrase ‘beautiful one day, perfect the next’ is synonymous with Queensland and its beaches, considered some of the best in the world. So we look forward to welcoming you to present, share, learn and network, as we guarantee that you will find even more than meets the eye.
We are very honoured and excited to welcome you to XXV ISER at the Gold Coast, 2023.
